Ten film oddaje istotę wiersza. Jestem pełna podziwu dla reżysera, że udało mu się zobrazować metafory w tak genialny sposób. Dobry wiersz można odczytywać na wielu poziomach, tak samo Pieśni: dla jednych będą z drugiego piętra i pokażą tyle ile widać z tego pułapu, inni patrząc z parteru zatrzymają wzrok przed horyzontem, można też wznieść oczy ku niebu i pomiędzy dwiema gwiazdami, Słońcem i tą symboliczną (Chrystusowi przypisano Betlejemską), nadaną każdemu człowiekowi, zobaczyć jak potykając się, ludzie brną w odwiecznych koleinach zdarzeń. Nawet Boga skomercjalizowali, ze szklanej kuli wróżą ci co powinni opracować prognozy na przyszłość, samobiczowanie po cudzych plecach to kwintesencja "robaczywych" sumień, a "kwiat narodu" dzieci, są składane na ołtarzu "starego porządku", wyłączna troska o pełną miskę zabiera rozum niezauważalnie, ale to nadwrażliwcy są zamykani w pokojach bez klamek. Znamienne jest jak głośno wrzeszczy Kalle do Tomasa, dając wyraz swojej kompletnej bezradności w obliczu rzeczy ostatecznych. Pożar wywołany chciwością spowodował, że ten 60 latek nagle zaczyna robić swoisty rachunek sumienia, może już umarł, bo widzi tych co odeszli przed nim, a może z niedotlenienia ma majaki, są jednak bardzo charakterystyczne, obrazują ślepotę na zło, tłumaczoną koniecznością codziennego zabiegania o środki do życia. Tak czy inaczej wszyscy "płacą tym za czym tęsknią".
