If this movie was made in the '70s, it would be one of those landmark '70s TV movies that everyone knows, everyone saw, got crazy ratings, repeated again and again - and Michael Madsen's character would get a TV series. It's one of the most impressively directed TV movies I have ever seen. The movie does just an excellent job of documenting - and more than an excellent job filming - the shootout. The first part is just Altman kind of way - just meeting all these different characters running around Los Angeles who are gonna end up in this shooting - and then the shooting starts. It's a little corny, but when the guns start going off, there's nothing corny anymore - it all just goes away.
