A fugitive heads towards St Mary’s. Father Brown (Mark Williams) is surprised to find Inspector Sullivan (Tom Chambers) in the confessional, asking for his help. In a flashback, we learn that he was investigating the suicide of a local journalist with DC Albert (Harry McEntire). Inspector Truman (Adrian Scarborough) tries to take over but suspecting foul play, Sullivan says there’s no need. They visit the home of local judge Sir Jeffrey (Jay Villiers) and question his wife Harriet (Natasha Little), with Albert asking about the bruise on her face. Incensed, Sir Jeffrey complains to Chief Constable Busby (Gareth Hale) who suspends Sullivan. Albert finds something interesting in the evidence room and calls Sullivan in but when he gets there Albert lies dying with a knife in his chest. Busby enters, catching Sullivan red handed with his hand on the knife. Can Father Brown uncover the truth to save not only Sullivan’s career but also his life?
