Kavanagh learns how dark the corridors of power can be when he defends Natasha Jackson, the daughter of the British Ambassador, Sir Alan Jackson. She is charged with murdering an Austrian journalist. Although Natasha is found guilty, Kavanagh's research throws up some new information which could take the case to the Court of Appeal. Meanwhile, Kavanagh's son moves into a squat.
