Rozłożenie ról w zespole jest następujące: Caleb Followill (śpiew, gitara), Matthew Followill (gitara, wokal wspierający), Jared Followill (gitara basowa, wokal wspierający) oraz Nathan Followill (perkusja, wokal wspierający).

Zespół powstał w Nashville (Tennessee, USA) w 1999 roku.
