The previous night's revelations have devastated Maggie and in desperate need of some time alone, she heads to the local pub to see if she can get a room for the night, only to find herself with a chance to amend another 'radiogate' wrong. Maggie and barmaid Sydney learn the real story of pub landlord Brian - who turns out to be far from the 'ex gangster on the run' she had hinted at during her interview. With no rooms free at the pub, Maggie is saved when daughter-in-law Becka reluctantly suggests she stay with her, and for the first time in their relationship, the two of them actually have a rare moment of bonding, one that puts a lot of things a bit more in perspective for Maggie. Meanwhile, whilst Peter is working late at the school, his loyal secretary Karen has treated them both to fish and chips and then suddenly reveals her true feelings towards him in a very forward, unexpected and borderline terrifying way.
