Był gitarzystą w następujących zespołach:
- Hial King and the Newports;
- The Mothers of Invention (1965-1966);
- Canned Heat (1965-1969, 1970-1974, 1980-1981, 1985-1988, 1992-1997).

Zmarł w Paryżu (Francja) na niewydolność serca.

W 1991 r. wydał album pt. "Guitar Gangster".
