Zmarł na atak serca w Nowym Jorku (Nowy Jork, USA). Został pochowany tamże na cmentarzu "Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine".

Był absolwentem Uniwersytetu Princeton z 1954 roku.

Ukończył Portsmouth Abbey School.
