Lewis Sezon 9 Odcinek 2: One For Sorrow, Part 2

College Dean Phil Beskin is found dead following a heated pub debate one of the Inklings, Charles Williams (the Inklings being an informal Oxford literary group from the 1930s, their members including Tolkein, CS Lewis et al). Phil is lured to a local woodland, and brutally bludgeoned to death with a rock. An alchemical image is purposefully left at the crime scene - the killer clearly someone with links to the world of alchemy. When he is prepared for autopsy, Hobson finds an unusual tattoo on Phil’s body - not exactly what you’d expect from a college Dean. The tattoo has three angelic teardrop forms, representing the holy trinity. Our team learn that the alchemical picture left at the crime scene denotes the first of four stages of a process called ‘The Great Work’, (or ‘Magnum Opus’). They realise that there are three more murders to follow... but who will the victims be? A second murder occurs - this time of Annapurna Kinneson - who is found strangled and placed in water, representing the second stage of the Magnum Opus. Significantly, Annapurna is found to have the exact same Christian tattoo as Phil Beskin. Lewis and Hathaway discover that the tattoo signifies membership to a secret esoteric society that believes past sins can be forgiven - the members believe in the literal sharing of guilt to lessen the effects of the original sin - essentially taking on the role of Christ themselves. There are about a dozen members of the group. Another murder takes place, this time of Jay Fennell, a tattooist, also a member of the group. He is stabbed through the chest and doused in yellow ink, representing ‘citrinitus’, the third stage of the Great Work. Before the fourth and final murder takes place, the team must act with brilliance to learn the identity of both the killer and the potential victim...
