After five years, Maggie is a changed person and can hardly bear to be with her son Little Jimmy, whilst Jimmy doesn't know where it all went wrong...and anyway, he's too busy running his business empire. With Freddie and Patricia still an item and still resentful of Ozzy's adoration of Jimmy, they plot a revenge that sees Ozzy attacked by a knifeman in prison. Freddie continues to taunt Maggie over Little Jimmy and spends more and more time with him, neglecting his wild child of a son Little Freddie, who is becoming capable of anything...and suspects an affair. Freddie's long allegiance with Des comes to a grizzly end when, after admitting his guilt about his rape of Maggie, pushes him off a dockside to his death.
