W 1983 roku razem z aktorką Marie Osmond założył organizację charytatywną Children's Miracle Network, która niesie pomoc potrzebującym dzieciom na terenie Stanów Zjednoczonych.

Ma dwóch starszych braci m.in. Roberta.

Adoptował dzieci swojej drugiej byłej żony Elly Castle: córkę Leah Michelle Castle i syna Chasena Josepha Schneidera.
