Zespół pochodzi z Oklahomy (USA).

Członkami zespołu są: Wayne Coyne (wokal, gitara, pianino), Michael Ivins (gitara basowa, pianino), Steven Drozd (perkusja, gitara, gitara basowa, klawisze) oraz od 2002 roku Kliph Scurlock (perkusja).

Zespół funkcjonuje od 1983 roku.

Grają alternatywnego rocka oraz łagodniejsze jego odmiany (indie rock, art rock).
