In an attempt to catch one of the Littles, evil Dr. Hunter contaminates the air duct system with poisonous gas. Tom and Lucy ignore the dangers by playing in the contaminated area and their mother, Helen, attempts to rescue them. However, in trying to save Tom and Lucy, Helen is exposed to the fatal gas and she becomes very ill from the poison.
