Egypt 1928. Sir Raleigh and his wife Evelyn discover a sarcophagus. Ignoring the inscribed warning, they lever off the lid and hear an ominous rumble before the roof collapses. In 1953, Mr Hubble (David Bamber) and Valerie (Geraldine Alexander) give Father Brown (Mark Williams), Mrs McCarthy (Sorcha Cusack) and Lady Felicia (Nancy Carroll) a tour of Sir Raleigh’s museum of Egyptian artefacts. Sir Raleigh (Nicholas Farrell) makes an unexpected appearance with his new young bride Caterina (Poppy Corby-Tuech) who demands to see Amenhotep. Later Sir Raleigh’s son Leo (Josh O’Connor) is unnerved to find Caterina brazenly running her fingers over the sarcophagus. Leo is certain that the Mummy, which ‘killed’ his mother Evelyn, is cursed. Indeed, in her locked bedroom, Catherina sees the mummy in the mirror behind her and screams. When Father Brown breaks in he finds her motionless on the ground, gasping her final word… ‘Amenhotep.’
