In the press room of a winery Colonel Forbes-Leith (Daniel Ryan) introduces his vigneron Gregoire (Edward Akrout) who offers to show the assembled guests their Seyval Blanc. But as he drains the white liquid from a vat it turns blood red. There is a stunned silence as the body of a dead dog is removed and Father Brown (Mark Williams) takes Lady Edna (Sheila Reid) back to the house as the Colonel attempts to continue with the tour. When the guests have gone the Colonel finds Gibbs and grabs him by the throat. Gibbs flees but says he’ll be back for what he’s owed. Later that night Gibbs breaks into the house, with cold determination in his eyes. Outside all is silent until two gunshots ring out. When Father Brown returns the next day he’s alarmed to see police cars on the drive. Gibbs has been murdered, but who is the killer?
