now, with What's Up Doc peter bodonovich was able to shoot the kind of comedy that he wanted, taken from older style films, and pulls it off in the way that everything is funny, everything has a little comic double take. and than, with Nickelodeon, he tries the same style, but he overdoes it. everything is a sight gag, everything is hitting a rope and falling, everything is pies in the face. blake edwards does this too. what spielberg does in 1941 is exactly connected to what bogdanovich does in Nickelodeon. the movie inside of Nickelodeon is actually quite good. i love Nickelodeon, it's actually quite touching, it's just all this constant comedy business..
