Film doskonale oddaje sytuacje, w jakiej znajdue sie wiezein w systemie amerykanskich wiezien, szczegolnie o zaostrzonym rygorze. USA to 5% populacji świata a znajduje się w nim 25% wszystkich więzionych na świecie, dla zainteresowanych polecam zgłebienie sprawy.

I jeszcze na dokładke o Felon:

This movie is loosely based on events that took place at the Corcoran Prison S.H.U. (security housing units) or Maximum Security. I was a former Correctional Officer at Corcoran from 1988 to 1993. I worked in the maximum security section for about 4 months in 1989. Although I was never permanantly assigned to a unit during that time. I was a vacation relief officer. Meaning I filled in for officers who were on vacation. This movie is very accurate in many details. From the way they did strip searches, escorting the prisoners and also the way the excercise yard looked with the grey brick walls etc. etc. There is also a measure of truth about the Gladiator fights. I can only comment on my experience there. I was not "in the car" as the movie states. So I wasn't told everything. But this is what I remember. At that time there was not any kind of gang segregation in the shu maximum security. The inmates were escorted one at a time to the excercise yard. So when the officers wanted to see two inmates fight, they just made sure that the first two inmates escorted to the yard were from rival gangs. Then there was tremendous peer pressure from the other inmates for them to fight. So guards knowing this would sometimes match together two inmates as the first two inmates to the yard knowing they were going to fight. Then I remember they'd let them fight for about 10 or 15 seconds before pulling out their weapon (which would shoot a wooden projectile) and order the inmates to the ground. There was a no gang segregation policy which opened up the door to a lot of blood shed. So basically Guards could stage almost any fight they wanted between two rival gang members and they were still following procedure. Unfortunately, it enabled correctional officers to immorally use the prison procedures to stage fights. And I am not surprised to hear that some officers bet on fights or gave gave inmates extra food as rewards. I myself am not completely innocent because as a 23 year old correctional officer I saw inmates put together that they thought would be a good fight. I never saw any real bloodshed or serious injury but I knew it was wrong and did nothing and said nothing. As a result(from what I've read) Corcoran had 300% more shootings than any other prison. Ultimately resulting in many deaths and permanently disabling injuries to the inmates. Anyways, I am only sharing this because it relates to the movie. A Correctional Officer is an important job and supposed to be an honorable job. I personally did not honor my job. Sadly in many cases it it hard to distinguish between Guard and Inmate. The difference at times is only the uniform. Felon is an excellent movie and I think it there is an important message which draws attention to the corruption that can take place within the prison walls.
