The cover of the issue shows tourist in Yellowstone park taking pictures of a bear.
The articles are
1.Yellowstones 100th anniversary . There are 4 separate articles regarding the National Park. They discuss the parks history, lots of pictures of the scenery , problems created by its success , and plans for the future.
2. "Cairo, Troubled Capital of the Arab World" - Discusses the History of the Egyptian City and the problems it has (overpopulation , poverty, exc...)
3. "Living in a Japanese Village" - Article about a fishing village on a Japanese Island called Futagami Jima (Twin Gods Island)
4. "The Spider which lives Underwater" - The diving bell spider which creates a bubble of air around its abdomen and breaths air through its pores while underwater. It also creates bubble nest underwater in which it lives and raises it's young.
5. Thera- Key to the Minos - Thera (also know as Santorin) is a volcanic island whose eruption is believed to have brought about the end of the Minoan civilization.
The first thing that struck me was the article on Thera and Yellowstone. When Thera collapsed it's caldera collapsed and created a massive tidal wave which hit the Island of Crete and started the decline of the Minoan world.
Yellowstone park is a collapsed caldera of a super-volcano. A huge magma chamber lies underneath it which powers its geysers, hotsprings , and mudpots It's eruption would be near extinction event.
Theory- Wayne talks about some bad sh*t coming in episode 1. Could it be a eruption of the super volcano at Yellowstone?
If a extinction type event was coming the departure could be seen as a random collection of the human race to save it from extinction. You would want it to be random to ensure a diverse gene pool. This is why there is no pattern.
The diving bell spider. As pointed out by Lostman in episode 7 Christine says "there are spiders under the water". Could mean a lot of things. Could Wayne be a spider and Tom and Christine be caught in his web underground? Could the spiders be Wayne's baby's that Christine and Lianne are carrying in the wombs in a liquid environment?. This may very well be possible after the revelations in the BJ and AC episode. In the dream sequence in episode 7 the dead GR members have plastic bags over there heads. This reminded me of the air bubble around the spiders abdomen.
I will post this and continue in next post
