"Caroline has every right to dislike Damon and take Stefan’s side because of her unpleasant history with Damon. But she can not even dare to think that Damon will treat Elena the same way because 1) Damon loves Elena and he used Caroline (two absolutely different things) and 2) Damon’s different now, he’s become a better person.

Damon saved her in 2.21 from dying in the sacrifice and he saved her from Tyler. He took the werewolf bite for her.
Damon took care of her dad leaving town in 3.04 (though, it didn’t work, but he tried and did it in a decent way the first time).
Damon went to look for Matt the minute Caroline told him Matt was missing. Granted, no one knows that Damon saved Matt from Kol but he did go look for the guy immediately. Does that count for nothing?
This might not be much but it happened in S2 and S3. And this is just the stuff connected to Caroline.

Caroline knows about some things that Damon has done for Elena. For instance, in 3.15 Damon turns Abby to save Elena. Caroline doesn’t have the right to judge him for that, by the way, because she let Jeremy kill Chris to save Elena. Or, how about that time Damon stepped in to dance with Elena because Stefan abandoned her at MMF? Damon clearly cares about Elena a lot.

Caroline should not act like that. Caroline just somehow forgets all the good stuff and only remembers the bad stuff. What Caroline should do is listen to Elena carefully and let Elena make her own decision. She should be a good friend, express her concern, talk to Elena and let Elena try, let Elena do what might make her happy instead of just picking up a fight with her and slamming the door in Damon’s face. That’s neither respectful nor polite. "
