Lionsgate to Promote 'The Hunger Games' Movie at Film Industry Movie Conference

It looks like Lionsgate is looking for distributors for its upcoming movie adaptation of The Hunger Games.

According to Screen Daily, Lionsgate "will commence sales at AFM" -- that is the American Film Market conference taking place November 3-10 in southern California. It's a chance for filmmakers to sell production and distribution rights on films.

Lionsgate is already producing the film along with Nina Jacobson's Color Force -- but after talks with MGM crumbled recently, Lionsgate is looking at other options for distribution.

At last word, producers were hoping to begin production on The Hunger Games movie in early 2011 -- with a theatrical release in 2012. There have been some rumors regarding a director and actors, but so-far there's no official word on either a director or any casting choices.

Suzanne Collins wrote a screenplay adaptation from her book, which was later polished by veteran screenwriter Billy Ray.
