Scanners does it great, but De Palma had already done it in The Fury. Scanners is just like The Fury Part Two. Back when I liked The Fury more, I was always resenting the fact that it kept trying to be a horror film, because I thought it wasn't that successful as a horror film. But as this new age James Bond secret agent kind of thing, that was what was really good about it. That was really interesting. And whenever it dealed with that aspect of it, it was fresh.
It was exciting. And the whole idea that they're working for these agents, and they're both secret agents, and John Cassavetes and Kurt Douglas are our secret agents, that was really neat.
Well, Scanners does the same thing too. The best part of Scanners is the whole opening 20 minutes where all the agents are out there trying to kill each other.
