Why? Because he’s not a star? That’s very infantile way of thinking. Or maybe he’s not as handsome as Seiya? It’s the matter of personal taste. This argument is given mostly by Seiya/Usagi fans, who don’t seem to notice that Usagi loves Mamoru and she doesn’t treat Seiya as possible lover even shortly after defeating of Galaxia, when she thinks that Mamoru is dead and will never come back to life. Besides, if you want to compare Mamoru with other Usagi’s possible lovers, why do you choose only Seiya for that, not Diamond, Ail, or even Motoki or Umino ;)? Is it because they don’t look good in your opinion, when you compare them with Mamoru?

Mamoru is more handsome than Seyia. He is taller and he has got better hairstyle. He looks more masculine. He hasn't got earning which has got Seyia. What is more Seyia is a woman!
Mamoru has got elegant clothes. His green jacket and black sweater makes him very hot!! xD In his salmon-pink shirt he is looking amazing. He is the most handsome man in the world!

A tak poza tym pamiętacie ten odcinek, w którym Usagi przejmuje się, że traci moce i wtedy Mamoru próbuje ją pocieszać i zabiera ją do tych kotków. Co wtedy Usagi sobie myśli, że ją zabiera do tak odludnego miejsca uhuhuhu xD :D

W sumie ciekawe jest to dlaczego tak dużo ludzi przezywało Usagi, Odango Atama? Z czego to wynikało? Na początku myślałam, że jest to inwencja twórcza Mamoru, który dopisał jej takie przezwisko w okresie godów... ;) ale potem mówi tak na nią Haruka i ten nieszczęsny Seyia. :)

Heej, jeszcze fajna jest ta scena z Mamoru, gdy spotyka on smutną Ami, która ma dylematy egzystencjalne (odcinek 97, nie wie czy chce być lekarzem) i Mamoru do niej z takim mini podrywem "gdyby lekarki były takie ładne jak ty to przestałbym się bać zastrzyków" aaaa... nasz Mamorcio boi się zastrzyków!!!! i jeszcze dodał "bardzo" :D To też takie miłe z jego strony, że starał się pocieszyć przyjaciółkę Usagi i w ogóle z nią pogadał xD

Not "a stupid dream", but a series of dreams when he saw his beloved dying. Remember also that Mamoru has already experienced the dream which was true - the one about the pirncess and Silver Crystal. So he had a valid reason to believe it.
It's true that he was really cold to her during that period, but he sincerely believed that it would be easier for her to hate him.

Besides, this breakup really proves that the argument of his having to be with her is invalid. Then, instead of feeling relieved he clearly misses her and is miserable the whole time. He still calls her: "Usako", can't take their photograph off his nightstand and sees her face in the stream.He even cries.

Odango to takie ryżowe pyzy - ponadto nazwa uczesania Usagi.

Tak, 76 odcinek to z tymi ciastkami, w których zostają uwięzione Sailorki ;) Wtedy padają te słowa Usagu, bo Mamorek coś mówi, że ciastka sprawiają radość a Esmerald wykorzystuje ich do niecnych celów. Uśmiałam się zresztą jak nigdy ;)

Tak, trzeba dopisać, że Usagi jest współodpowiedzialna za Chibiusę, tym bardziej, że jest strasznie do niej podobna, tylko Chibiusa zgrywa z siebie taką dojrzałą i to jest wkurzające. Usagi zna swoje wady i podchodzi do siebie z dystansem co jest fajne i wzbudza sympatię do bohaterki :)
Bardzo dobrze Neoma! Trzeba napisać, że te sny były straszne a to z tą próbą wzbudzenia nienawiści jest dramatyczne. I cały czas jest "Usako" zawsze rusza na ratunek i powiedział jej "nie lubi płaczliwych dziewczyn" (akurat XD) tylko dlatego, by przestała się zamartwiać.

Irritating

Boring

His attacks are pretty weak

Effectiveness of the attacks is more important than their strength. Tuxedo Kamen’s attacks, despite being not so impressively looking as for example Uranus and Neptune’s attacks, were often saving Sailor Soldiers’ life and distracting their enemies. Besides that, with his rose attack he was able to heavily wound Queen Beryl and Kisenian Flower, and also to cause Tellu’s death - except Sailor Moon and Sailor Saturn nobody else has achieved more in defeating major enemies in the entire show. Moreover, Sailor Mercury’s attack at the beginning also wasn’t impressive and Seiya also used a rose once in order to save Sailor Moon, but they aren’t bashed for that. In their cases fans are able to see that these attacks were simply useful, so why they can’t do it in Mamoru’s case?

Gives stupid speeches at the beginning

Heh, Sailor Moon and other Sailor Senshi also give often “stupid speeches” before almost every battle, but they aren’t bashed for that (for me they’re sometimes really stupid – like the one about destroying Soldiers’ clothes by Kunzite shortly before Usagi killed him). Mamoru’s speeches are supposed to be romantic and calming, and in my opinion their function is fulfilled, although I have to admit that sometimes they sound funny (for example in S movie) and even Usagi states once that she doesn’t have any idea what’s he talking about. Besides, coming up with new speech on every occasion requires creativity and fantasy - isn't it much better than saying always the same as Starlights or Outers?

Stays in the way of Seiya/Usagi

Well, no. It's Usagi's feelings which get in the way of Seiya/Usagi - subtle difference. Usagi has made it repeatedly clear that she loves Mamoru and Seiya's just a friend, despite Mamoru's absence and total lack of communication from him, while she spent much time with Seiya, who courted her and helped her. She doesn’t treat Seiya as possible lover even shortly after defeating of Galaxia, when she thinks that Mamoru is dead and will never come back to life. Yet no spark appeared and Usagi's heart remained solely with Mamoru. Seiya got it also at last.

If Usagi's feelings changed, Mamoru would surely let her go. Mamoru ‘s love isn't possessive. When he was dying after battle with Beryl, he even said to Usagi that she should find another loving boyfriend.

Is the father of Chibiusa (who is also a hated character)

So if Mamoru wouldn’t exist, there would be no Chibiusa too, right? Well, this child can be annoying, but she also has some sweet moments (for example in the SuperS season she tells Kamoi that Usagi is a role model for her). Besides that, without her Hotaru wouldn’t have any friends and she could not find any strength to defeat Mistress 9, Helios couldn’t escape from Nehelenia’s yoke etc. Without Chibiusa defeating their enemies would be more difficult for Senshi. Besides, Usagi is also responsible for the birth of Chibiusa, but she doesn’t get any hate for that.

Other arguments against him, which you can meet:

He's an insensitive jerk in the Classic season and at the beginning of R season

It's true that he teases Usagi, but most of the things he says to her aren't really cruel. Sometimes he's obviously right like when he speaks that looks aren't everything or that honesty requires courage.

Besides, it's quite evident that Mamoru's teasing is kind of "kindergarden courtship", as it's only focused on Usagi. Mamoru's treatment of Rei is very different. His best friend Motoki even notices that Mamoru's teasing of Usagi is unusual for him.

Usagi can sometimes be also mean to him, like when she mocks him because of riding an amusement train or when she accuses him of hurting her cat.

Yet she also - after initial annoyance with Mamoru - can be seen enjoying their bickering. Later their mutual teasing becomes almost flirty.

Besides, despite his often reserved exterior he is far from being insensitive - he jumps under the truck to save a cat, he defends Usagi's family from the monster, in spite of being ordinary human then, he devotes two days to take care of the baby, he agrees to be Yumeni's model.

Besides, if he was perfect from the beginning, we wouldn't have character development due to love between him and Usagi. And there the change in him, after they are together, is striking. He finally gets over his lonely childhood.

Mamoru is reserved and introverted person, which people often confuse with being cold. He also grew up without close relatives, in culture which postulates keeping distance from others and calmness.

Therefore, it's natural he's not openly affectionate man - in Tuxedo Mask's image song "Dakishimete itai" he says that he can't speak pretty words and make pretenses. This doesn't mean he doesn't show his love through actions, not words.

Besides, if one pays attention to the way he looks at Usagi, the love in his eyes is evident.

He is with Usagi only because he has to

If he was with Usagi only because he has to, he doesn't really love her and he's acting all the time, why he calls her name shortly before his death in Stars series? If this "argument" would be true, that should mean that that was a very strange way of acting - why he should be doing this at this moment? He had no "audience" there (besides Galaxia, who completely didn't care at that moment if he loves someone or not) and no purpose to act then. He shows his affection towards Usagi also earlier, everytime when he was appearing to save her, and even when he didn't know that she's Sailor Moon. Do you remember that episode, when Mamoru still didn't get his memories back and he was babysitting with Usa? You could have felt really big chemistry between them then. When I was a kid and I was watching Sailor Moon only from time to time, I started watching this episode without knowing much about the plot and during it I was certain that they already are in the long-term relationship.

Zrezygnowałam z rozpisywania się o tym, czy przystojniejszy jest on czy Seiya, bo to w końcu kwestia gustu ;)

Ja tam bym jednak trochę o tej przystojności napisała, bo to przecież bardzo ważne jest. Jeszcze może o tym gwiezdnym ziarnie wspomnieć, berle miłości które z nich powstało, kryształowych pantofelkach oraz o tym jak zabrał ją do kotków (bo to takie słodkie było).
A tak z innej beczki widziałyście może kilka demotywatorów związanych z Sailor Moon?

Chyba znalazłam odcinek, w którym Chibiusę przegięła pałę po prostu jest tam tak mega wkurzająca, że to aż czysta poezja jest!
Mam na myśli odcinek 155 z zawodami sportowymi. Zaraz chyba wybuchnę ze złości. Oto co wyczynia tam Różowa Cholera:
- Usagi robi za skrzynie a Chibiusa ma przez nią skakać, gdy Mamoru zachęca ją do skoku ta widzi go w otoczeniu kwiatuszków i robi maślane oczy
- Biedna Usagi nie wytrzymała presji, więc się dźwignęła tak, że obie się zderzyły
- Minako chyba zgłupiała ale powiedziała, że to jest jak skok do ukochanego a Chibiusa się z tego cieszy, bo tak stoi Mamoru
- Potem ćwiczy skoki do łóżka i na zdjęcie, na którym jest Mamoru
- Gdy pojawia się Pegaz w kuli to szybko chowa zdjęcie Mamoru i czerwieni się jak burak

Zaś co do tego odcinka, w którym Chibiusa uczy się skoków przez skrzynię, to w tym odcinku od niej jedzie kompleksem Elektry na kilometr =='
Zapomniałaś wspomnieć o tym, że po skoku na zdjęcie Mamoru Chibiusa potrząsa rytmicznie swoimi czterema literami ==' ==' ==' . To jest najnormalniej w świecie niesmaczne - zastanawiam się, co myśleli sobie ludzie związani z anime, gdy wymyślali te dwie sceny...

======= to był największy kompleks elektry w dziejach świata :) biedny Mamoru, biedna Usagi zwłaszcza biedny Mamoru bo tego nie widzi... Właśnie dlaczego nie mogli zrobić normalnej rodzinki, gdzie córeczka jest słodka, miła i tatuś jest tylko wyłącznie dla niej opiekunem i bohaterem i na tym koniec? Tylko jakieś patologie wciskają... chyba pomyśleli, że byłoby za różowo.

W ogóle Chibiusa sieje demoralizacje w anime - nie zapominajmy, że całowała się z koniem ;)

Agamemmon nie, ale Elektra matkę zabiła... Chibiusa jak wiemy też próbowała, ale Mamoru przed Usagi wskoczył.

No właśnie Agamemnon nic z tych rzeczy, ale w jednej z tragedii Ajschylosa Elektra silnie namawia Orestesa do pomszczenia ojca i zabicia Klitajmestry, więc Jung wpadł na pomysł, że jej imię pasuje do kompleksu charakteryzującego się "specyficzną" miłością względem ojca i nienawiścią względem matki. Jung najwidoczniej chciał nazwać ten kompleks mitologicznie przez analogię do kompleksu Edypa, ale "nie mogąc" znaleźć podobnej historii w mitologii o dziewczynie (choć z tego, co pamiętam, jest takowa, tylko że mało znana), naciągnął bardziej znaną historię.

A jeszcze propo Chibiusy - ona byłaby znacznie znośniejsza, gdyby wszyscy (poza Usagi) jej tak nie pobłażali i nie uważali za Bóg wie jak świetną osobę. Najbardziej mnie rozwaliło, jak w Starsach Rei mówi, że Chibi-Chibi "jest taka wspaniała, zupełnie jak Chibiusa" XD

He left to the USA, knowing that Usagi will miss him

Somehow it's being forgotten that Mamoru would miss her too - rememeber that he kept looking at their photograph when Galaxia attacked his plane.
Mamoru's situation was even much harder than Usagi's - she stayed with all her friends, while he left the person most dear to him.
Mamoru is also obviously conflicted about this separation and anxious about Usagi's feelings, but he is a man, who would put a duty above a personal pleasure.

The intended message of this plot was that such separation doesn't conquer the true love, earlier presented with Reika and Motoki.

Amd finally, at the end of Stars Mamoru doesn't seem to be going anywhere...

O berle miłości i gwiezdnym ziarnie chyba lepiej w parach napisać, zwłaszcza że konkurencja nas wyprzedziła ;)

Czemu nas nie demoralizowali Usagi i Mamorkiem? :)

Dokładnie! Bardzo chciałabym zostać zdemoralizowana przez Mamorcia i Usagi, a tutaj taki pech jestem demoralizowana przez Chibiusę, która rzuca się do łóżka ze zdjęciem Mamoru....eh.
Stanowczo było za mało zdjęć z pocałunkami i brakuje sceny ognistej z mangi ;) Chociaż znając mnie pewnie bym się znowu potem czepiała, że jakieś seksy na podłodze urządzają w anime dla dzieci i młodzieży xD Ale podobno gdzieś napisali, że nowa seria anime będzie bardziej skierowana do dorosłych widzów, czyli tych, którzy wychowali się na Sailor Moon, więc może coś ten teges??
Tak, Rei jakoś za bardzo lubiła Chibiusę, to jest podejrzane ;)
Ale Elektra chciała zabić matkę, bo tamta zabiła ojca i jeszcze nawiązała romans z jakimś innym gachem ;) Coś tutaj Jung przesadził z nazewnictwem :)

Z nazewnictwem to było tak, że najpierw Freud stworzył kompleks Edypa, który pasował bardziej, dla mężczyzn. Kompleks Elektry nieco naciągnęli, żeby stworzyć kobiecy odpowiednik.

Sceny na podłodze raczej w anime nie spodziewalibyśmy, ale pocałunków powinni dać więcej.
Zresztą po coś Mamoru dał ten swój klucz Usagi ;).

Hehe klucz do nagłych przypadków ;) xD Super jest ta scena gdy Usagi wykrzykuje, że Mamoru dał jej klucz jako dowód swej miłości, a potem się zaczęła śmiać po co to tak wykrzykuje :)
To był ten odcinek z Nehelenią... Usagi potem wchodzi do mieszkania i widzi Mamoru znowu owładniętego przez złe moce. Coś ten nasz Mamoru za często ulega mocom złych kobiet. ;)
A właśnie w mandze chyba też było, że Mamoru uległ Czarnej Damie chyba?
Faktycznie, Chibiusa też chciała zabić swoją matkę, i Mamorek znów musiał zrobić z siebie tarczę.

Mamorek jest świetną tarczą :)

W anime chyba tylko Beryl i Nehellenii. W mandze jeszcze była rzeczywiście Czarna Dama, co w anime było jedynie wizją mędrca (tam to dopiero kompleks Elektry). I na końcu jeszcze w mandze Galaxia zaadaptowała Mamorka, a w anime jedynie przerobiła go na bąbelki.

Szkoda, że nie widzieliśmy sceny dawania klucza....

He often gets kidnapped
Not as often as it's believed. In most cases he gets captured because he wants to save Usagi. The exception would be Nehellenia, who captured the person Usagi loves the most to exact revenge on the White Moon Princess.

Other characters are often kidnapped too (i.e. Sailor senshi by Rubeus and Nehellenia, Usagi by Prince Diamond), especially Chibiusa.

He's often outside the final battle
The final battles belong to Usagi, as, you know, the main character and the strongest senshi. Only Chibiusa in R and SuperS, and Hotaru in S took active part, other senshi have supporting role.

Futhermore, even though Mamoru is not present at the battle with Nehellenia in SuperS, he still influences the outcome by talking to Helios in Elysion and motivating him to act.

Co proszę? Co Galaxia wyczyniała z naszym Mamorkiem? Niestety, nie przeczytałam tych późniejszych tomów i nie wiem... możesz mi opisać co się stało z Mamoru?? :D

W mandze po odebraniu gwiezdnych ziaren czarodziejki stają się złe. Praktycznie z Mamoru powtarza się sytuacja z Beryl z pierwszej części. Na końcu Galaxia wrzuca złego Mamoru do gwiezdnego kociołka.
Cieszę się, że w animie to zmienili....

Co? Gwiezdny kociołek? Powrót złego Endymiona? To brzmi tragicznie. Masz rację, dobrze, że w anime zmienili. Tam ludzie porobili lepsze zmiany, z Czarną Damą też dobrze zrobili, że nie sprowadziła na złą drogę Mamorcia.

Czasami mi się wydaje, że pomysły Naoko nie były najlepsze i gdyby nie anime, to w ogóle manga by mnie nie zaciekawiła.

Wszystkie czarodziejki stałe się złe? To smutne, że nie potrafiły zapanować nad siłą Galaxii, w anime fajne było to, że Haruka i Michiru tak wykiwały Galaxię i nie uległy jej mocy ;) I Mamoru zamieniający się w bąbelki i wypowiadający na koniec pamiętne "Usako" też jest o niebo lepszy :)

I jeszcze przed śmiercią powiedział Galaxii, że na pewno czarodziejki ją powstrzymają :) ach...

Ja też się cieszę z wielu zmian, które anime wprowadziło.

Because obviously different viewers find various characters irritating and Mamoru is no exception. However, he isn't generally regarded as irritating by the people who know him - Usagi at the beginning may be an exception, but it's because he for some reason teases her in special way. Mamoru may be not very sociable, but still many people like him.

Boring

It's similar situation as in previous case - different strokes for different people, who find different characters boring or interesting. It's matter of personal taste.

And again, most people aren't bored in Mamoru's company. Can a man with such a variety of books be boring?

And last, but not least - he is completely faithful to her, despite many people expressing interest in him.

Besides, if one pays attention to the way he looks at Usagi, the love in his eyes is evident. And, as Fisheye noticed, Mamoru smiles in a special way when he's with Usagi.
